Prevent Sewer Blockages
Sewer blockages have become a problem in this area. Please help the water utility to keep sewer out of your home and environment.
The following is a list of items that SHOULD NEVER BE FLUSHED:
• GREASE
• Hair extensions
• Rags
• Baby Wipes
• Surgical gloves
• Shop towels
• Underwear
• Swiffer cloths
• Diapers
• Syringes
• Articles of clothing
• Plastics
• Paper towels
• Colostomy bags
Fats, oils, and grease poured down kitchen drains accumulate inside sewer pipes. Fats, oil and grease are found in cooking oil, shortening, butter, gravies, and salad dressings. Please discard oils and grease with your regular garbage.
DO NOT use hot water and soap to wash grease down the drain, because it will cool and harden in your pipes or in the sewer system.
Only water, human waste, and toilet paper should be flushed.

Fats, oils, and grease build up in the sewer lines causing blockages like the one above. The fats, oils, and grease then bind with soaps and other materials to form large clumps that block normal sewer flow. Please do not use hot water to wash fats, oils, or grease down the drain.
